ok, lets share horror stories, since its late at night :)

PC comes in today for repair....... nothing new there until I hear its story.

A mouse (live at the time obviously) gets inside the case (through a missing PCI slot cover) and makes itself comfortable.

When said PC is switched on, it scares the beejaysus out of the poor mouse (situation deduced by my powerful detective skills), and off he goes for a panic run inside the case.

Said mouse gets fried, electric trip gets blown, internet router dead, PC dead, bad burning mousey smell I imagine lol.

Tonight, I don my rubber (or latex?) gloves, and go inside for a deeper looksee, to see if said mouse has left a PC worth repairing.

Having only now taken the side casing off, I see a lovely brown stain which I can only assume is the final resting place of a rather charred little ex-furry creature.

I'm getting funny itches etc already...wish me luck :)

Unless it some how got into the power supply I am not sure why it did so much damage? I suppose it it chewed through some of the 12v cables there might be enough ampage there to fy a mouse.

Is your client going to replace it with an optical one?

Just imagine if this had happened to old Grace, instead of bugs they would all be calling computer errors 'rodents'. And instead of debugger it would be a 'knob of cheese and a spring'.

wasp nest in a roof space....very sweaty Indiana Jones moment crawling backwards. Bum twitching like a rabbits nose.

A motherboard and a Power Supply and this PC seems to be fine again. I'll run a few stress tests and see what happens.

Little mousey must have been happily nibbling on an internal cable or two, as a couple needed replacing.

The good thing about having to take mobo out was I had an empty case and was able to take the little sticky patch he had left when he decided to get fried.

Man I needed a shower after that job last night :)

Townie!!!

I can't tell you how many have fried themselves on my consumer unit...they love it. Can't beat the smell of burning mouse in the morning, that's if you can still find yer way to reset the CU.
