I wondered if anyone knows of an online IT test that can tell me from the results if someone is up to a certain standard on their IT knowledge.

Thanks.

Hmmm, not off hand. However to be honest I wouldn't trust a test anyway.

What do you need them to do? You could always set them a small work exercise and see if they are up to scratch.

Hi Richard

That's a good idea, was hoping to find something already online, but if not, then I will do that.

W3CSchools (http://www.w3schools.com/) do tests for things like HTML, CSS, Javascript etc. but they tend to be ferociously easy.

What exactly are you trying to test?

OK, what I want to test for is:
Good working knowledge of computers
Use of various basic software packages
Understanding of web design and html tags

OK, what I want to test for is:
Good working knowledge of computers

Give them a box of bits and say "build me a PC!" See what they come up with.

Use of various basic software packages

Such as? Something like "Produce me some buttons for the Web in Photoshop" Check that they use layers, save the psd's for later use and save all the images as gifs for use on the Web.

Understanding of web design and html tags
Give them a print out of a screen and some graphics and say "Produce that print out in HTML". See how close they can get it (it should be pixel perfect), validate their code, check they use a css etc.
