 Hello from USA, North Carolina:

I am a little shy so please forgive me, its my first time ever posting to a forum. I feel like I'm standing naked in front of a bunch of strangers : -)

I am a retired Army sargeant. I was stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC, home of the famous 82nd Airborne Division. I now live in the surounding area. I am originally from the big apple, New York City. I now work in security in Ft. Bragg. I guess I subconsciously never wanted to leave the army. So I stay close to the soldiers.

Beside my full time job I launched a website earlier this year. Around August I decided to start an online shopping mall with all kinds of merchandise. Everything from consumer electronics and bodybuilding suppliments to martail art gear. The website is: www.24-7bargainshop.com if anyone is curious. I have been told and read that forums and blogs, etc. are a good way of creating traffic to the site. To date I have had approximately 1204 hits. But unfortunately no one has purchased anything. I wonder if any of you could critique my website and point me in the direction of improvement. Maybe something is missing.

Thank you for your time.

Hi Bobby, welcome to the Forums.

There are a couple of "mistakes" made by your designer. For one, the page is too wide for about 95% of people's screens, so a scroll bar is always visible.

There's a lot of vertical scrolling involved aswell. For example, as a fat guy - which I am - I might be looking for weight loss products. I'd probably never find them because I don't tend to scroll down to read menu items. A way to get round it is to use nested categories, like "Health Products > Weight Loss", "Electronics - Cameras

You could move some of the elements on your home page around, so that the eCommerce stuff is more prominant.

You could try having something like a "featured product" on your home page with a "buy now" link, so your visitors know straight away what they're looking at.

I'd be happy to give you a full critique if you're interested, to help you increase your hits, your search engine ranking and improve your sales. If you're interested, please feel free to e-mail me at mark@msomedia.com.

Kind regards,
Mark Steadman
