Evening All,
My name's Malcolm Bailey and I am a business consultant specialising in providing a part time Financial Director service.
I was with Barclays Bank (Martins before they were taken over by Barclays) for 37 years and after closing two branches down I had had enough and made my escape through the open window of opportunity whilst the train was in the station.
I've been in business fsince 1999 and have only a handful of clients - I believe a client is for life not just for Christmas.
When I was with Martins Bank they had an advertising campaign that boasted "We're the Bank Manager in your cupboard". - I could be that man!
If you have a bone of contention with your bank manager and want a second opinion, give me a call or put a comment on the forum

Cheers

Hi Malcolm,

I have a major issue with my aparant bank/business manager, so someone like yourself could be useful in the future! I'm looking to change business banks at the moment because of shear failure of my current bank to provide any sort of service! Forgetting to set up an overdraft, not returning calls, booking meetings and palming me off to her assistant......where do i stop! I know that banks arent that fantastic anyway, but do believe if i'm going to bank with them i expect some sort of service!

Any suggestions as to who's has the most favourable business banking?

Cheers,

Mark

Hi Mark
Thanks for your question. I guess all the banks can be likened to the curates egg. - "good in parts !" and if you happen to have got a bad bit you should look round the other banks in your area.
If you have prepared a business plan which must include a financial part indicating how you are going to fund your business, you should visit each bank and discuss it with them, choosing the bank that displays the most empathy with you and your plans. A trip to Business Link would not be a bad idea as they are experianced at looking at business plans and they will advise you.
I hope that is of some help as it is difficult to comment too much without having seen you business plan myself
All the best

Malcolm
