A million in the bank?
Owning a business that turns over a million?
Owning a business (or part of) that's valued at over a million?
Having a million pound's worth of assets (business, property etc)?
I always used to think it was a million in the bank - but that's a bit hopeful!

If you die, your airs receive £1,000,000
Assets, cash etc
So its total value of assets less liabilities > 1 Million

It's net worth.
But lets be honest, having a Million is not that rich is it?
I mean, you can hardly move in next door to Madonna can you? It wouldn't even buy a one bed flat in Belgravia!
50 Million is a good target to aim for. :)

I equate 'millionaire' with 'nett worth'.
However, to make your 'nett worth' too widely known is fraught with danger.
One only needs to find themself on the 'wrong' side of romance and very soon your 'nett worth' becomes your ex-wife's nett worth whilst you're scraping together welfare and paper-round money trying to get yourself off the ground (again).
Much safer to have a secret stash in, say, Estonia.
