If a local directory service (i.e yellow pages) offered you the chance to advertise on their printed and online directory on the basis that you were the only business in your sector wit no competitor would you say that was a good deal? And would you pay £700 for an ad (size-one third of the page)

Or would you be interested in splitting it with another competitor and paying £350 and you still get the same size ad.

the size etc is irrelevant, it is the return on your investment (ROI) that matters.

Ok so you are the only one in print and online. have YOU used either version? does anyone you know use either? Where does their online directory appear for YOUR search phrases?

These are the questions you need to be asking :)

And....will your potential customers be likely to be looking for the services you provide in a Yellow Pages whether print or online?

Why not do some research and see if your competitors in other areas of the country advertise and ask them whether they get a good ROI.

As mentioned previously depends on

Whether YP is easy to find under your key word searches
Whether your potential customers use Yellow Pages
Whether others in your sector have found they got a good ROI when using YP to advertise

A question to ask yourself is when was the last time you picked up the yellow pages? For most people it would have been a long time ago.

I personally would not take up the deal as you outlined it.

Whatever advertising medium you choose, what is important is the ROI. You can always test all types of ads to see what sort of ROI you get and stick with the one most profitable.
