Hi Guys

Needs some help please.

I am creating a Where's Worm page. Basically people will be looking after Worm for a month and then passing him on. He could be going from country to country. What I need is an interactive map of the world where people can click on the country and then it will become bigger and the people can see red dots as to where worm has been. Any idea's on how I can go about doing this?

Cheers

Chris

I love the concept.

You'd need a programmer to help you put your map together and provide you with an admin interface to add the path.

How long do worms live ?

Will it be micro chipped or something so you know that the original worm isn't replaced en route ?

Jayne

But what if a bird eats him? The micro chip will be going all over the place

lol we'll all be following the bird.

I hope he doesn't get kidnapped and I am trusting people not to hold him to ransom.

Worm doesn't have a name yet but would anyone like to have the honours.

Cheers

Well, I think first things first. He/She will need a name. Well, perhaps a gender first - then a name

For a boy I'd say Reginald, for a girl: Gertrude.

William and Wilma are just too obvious.

Maybe we need to know a little bit more about him first before we choose a name.

What does he do with his spare time? What music does he listen to? Does he have a family?

We really need to establish a 'back story' (yes, I watch Spooks)

Jayne

I think he should be called Sage

Then when you run out, you can eat him

JayneThat gets myself and Gary out wormsitting duties then :D

I think it should be called Elvis, then everyone will be looking to see if he is alive and where he is :D

Well so far i like Reginald and Elvis.

I haven't though of his backround yet but will post it here tomorrow. I think I will give him a boy's name seeing as Boys/Men rule ha ha :D (Jaynes going to slater me for that lol)
Fastfences, He who might be named :D came from um.....let me think.......yeah the ground. He is definately an Earth worm lol :D

Here are some pics of him anyway so take a look. I have quickly put the page together so don't worry about it's tackyness. It is going to be smart when it goes live :D http://www.freecybermag.com/Wheresworm2.html

Keep the names coming.

Chris

I hope you'll get references before letting Wormy go to just anyone? And remember to give him 20p emergency money for a 'phone call in case he doesn't like his foster parents.

Jayne you always put a smile on my face. :D

Duane you are more than welcome to look after him but unfortunately 2 others have also asked so can you look after him in February/March time. What will happen is you keep him for a few weeks, show him around, take some pics and send him on his way. You then send me the pics by e-mail with a brief outline of what you have both fdone and then it goes in my mag.

Still trying to get the map thing sorted though. :D

isn't a month a bit of a long time ? I would have thought a week would be fine, get him travelling alot more as well.

freecybermag

I know but I publish my mag once a month. Besides it will take more organising to arrange for him to be passed on each week.
I might do it every fortnight though???

I'll look after him, I need a small fairy costume for him so he can sit on the top of my tree!

I'll look after him, I need a small fairy costume for him so he can sit on the top of my tree! Oh dear, that means that everyone else gets to look after a worm with personality problems......

Claire

Just had a quick word with worm and he is now seriuosly worried.

He said "But Uncle Chris, I'm not a girl so why would people want to dress me as one, especially in a fairy costume"

I tried to reassure him that you were only joking but he has stormed off to his room.

I will give him until later to calm down then I will chat to him again.

Chris

P.S. What I wanted to say was he is refusing to dress as a fairy lol :D

Hi,

There was an interactive map on Bravenet, not that I am suggesting using theirs, but may give you an idea or a starting point.

Here is an example, as I can't find it on the Bravenet site at the moment - http://www.travelimagesonline.com/interactive.htm

Love the idea - can I look after it for while too?!

Kate

My wife and I received a Where's Wally been from an Australian Girl and it had covered so much land. The idea was for it to passed from schools to care agencies etc.

Some of the places it had been was unreal.
