A Blog will not directly increase your sales... What it will do (if done correctly) is increase your search engine rankings.
This is because by adding to a Blog on a regular basis - you are offering the search engine spiders constantly changing, unique content... Something which has a positive effect on your ranking.

I am adding a news section to my site which mentions all the latest trends in web development and projects my company is involved in. This should help the search engine rankings.
Just try and avoid querystrings as the search engines don't like them, having said that I have seen pages with querystrings indexed on google.

I have a blog on my site, but I do it myself rather than using a blogging tool. It always places hi in my stats as a highly visited page with the same IP addresses popping back to check itout, which in my book means interested potential customers.
Give it a go, it cant hurt and what your saying about ever changin content makes good sense. I try to update it as well as my news pages a couple of times a week.

I have a blog on my site, but I do it myself rather than using a blogging tool. .
The blog needs to be on a seperate IP address if you want to use it to provide a creditable back link to you main site. Even if it's on Blogger.com it's worth more than a sub directory.

Hi
Caroline

That is a blog.
It's basically a way of posting updated information on a website. Many people use them as online journals or a way of commenting of personal, social political or general interest issues.
it's good fun if you have the time to make regular posts.
Whether it will increase sales will depend on the blog, but it's a good way of adding content to your site, posting latest product news or industry information and keeping in touch with your customers, especially if you include RSS with your blog, I'll let someone else take up the batton regarding RSS.

Blogs are a really valuable way to interact with your clients and in my case, readers.
Of course, the search engine rankings are always desirable 8-)
