View Full Version : Why do you visit business forums?

I never used forums in the past because of the time of writing a post.

However in the last few months it is making a difference to my sales by taking time to add a few posts.

Do you use forums like this for time out or do you see it as a great tool for your business?

best

Mostly for time out purposes, plus it is extremely rewarding helping others.

Hi,

I like to help others too, it's fun. :D

I use the forum like a reference library for techy stuff and business, plus I love a good chat!

Not only can business forums be a great resource as well as a marketing tool for advertising your business, but can be particularly helpful I feel for people who work from home.

According to national statistics there is something like 2.5 million people currently working from home in the UK.
People are, in general, sociable types and if you have made the switch from employment to self employment, or indeed choose to work remotely away from the office; being ‘home alone’ relatively speaking can be quite isolating at times; particularly a new business.

Although I do feel to get the most out of your on line networking it is important to network off line with your relevant chosen community. It helps to create a team spirit, forge friendships and a sense of belonging, whether you’re a regular poster or not.

Its like your local, you can come in here, and see many friendly faces and everyone is keen to help.

I started using forums to gain new business, but now I look to were I can help others.

Strange....

I drop in to learn from others and offer help when I can. I also agree with Julles - working from home can leave you isolated and visiting one or two forums can relieve that isolation.

I have found out about loads of things through reading through forums and I consider my daily visit to my chosen forums to be very important.

Making your way in the world today takes everything you've got.
Taking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot.

Wouldn't you like to get away?

Sometimes you want to go

Where everybody knows your name,
and they're always glad you came.
You wanna be where you can see,
our troubles are all the same
You wanna be where everybody knows
Your name.

All those night when you've got no lights,
The check is in the mail;
And your little angel
Hung the cat up by it's tail;
And your third fiance didn't show;

Roll out of bed, Mr. Coffee's dead;
The morning's looking bright;
And your shrink ran off to Europe,
And didn't even write;
And your husband wants to be a girl;

Be glad there's one place in the world
Where everybody knows your name,
And they're always glad you came;
You want to go where people know,
People are all the same;
You want to go where everybody knows your name.

Cheers! :)

I can write 'poems' like that one all day long :wink:

Here's one I wrote on the back of a fag packet

Hey there where ya goin',
Not exactly knowin'
Who says you have to call just one place home.
He's goin' everywhere,
B.J. McKay and his best friend Bear.

He just keeps on movin',
Ladies keep improvin'
Every day is better than the last.
New dreams and better scenes,
And best of all I don't pay property tax.

Rollin' down to Dallas,
Who's providin' my palace,
Off to New Orleans or who knows where.
Places new and ladies, too,
I'm B.J. McKay and this is my best friend Bear.

I came here originally to promote my business, then stuck around to offer help where I could as it's such a friendly place to be. Now i pop in to learn new things and catch up with the gossip

I owe a lot to this forum, my whole business idea was encouraged and I received help and support - even confidence to go ahead with each part of the set up.

I have also made some nice 'business friends' from this forum.

Good to offer help, some good offers on here, bit of fun, and no-one's bought a fence off me so I can say it's not for self-promotion!
Cheers, Nigel

There does seem to be quite a healthy bunch of people round here:-)

I have been and am a member of quite a few on line business forums, the down fall of many is when they become ‘too sociable’ Don’t get me wrong I love ‘social’ but there are certain types that rather than promote business interaction they get too personal. Preferring to spend their time 'batting and balling' with the latest topic of the day or having a verbal dig at each other.

When do these people work! Do they really have businesses? Or just the unemployed with delusions of grandeur!

Keep it in perspective.

Work hard, play hard but don’t take your eye off the ball for one second !

Here endeth the sermon for today ……Off to do some 'social' :-)

Did join originally to tout for business I guess but it's so useful and everyone is really friendly. It's a great place to come for a giggle and give and receive advice.

You're a lovely lot!!
