I have seen a few photographs I like which would be ideal for my site, however I am still a bit worried about the copy right issue. If I keep a record of the stuff I have paid for will that protect me in the event of a copyright dispute?

I realise that I am just paying for a licence to use the image rather than the rights to the image.

True - you will never own the copyright. The originator of the image does. The user console records what you have downloaded.

So it's not really an issue - just use them. :)
