For many years we have used Virgin (previously NTL) for broadband and use an email address ending @ntlworld.com.
We are in the process of switching th BT broadband.
When the NTL service ends, will I need to set up a new email address, or will I be able to keep my ntlworld address.
I use Windows Mail on Vista to view these emails.
Any advice to help with a smooth switch would be appreciated.

I would have thought the ntlworld service would end and bt will issue you with one - but it's a question for virgin. They may have some kind of free email service and allow you to keep your ntlworld address.

If I were you I'd take this opportunity to buy your own domain name, at least it's future proof as it's portable between ISPs.

I'm sure you can obtain .co.uk addresses for around a fiver or something, and they sometimes come with email bundles and stuff.

If this scares you, there may be someone in the tenders section willing to help. Just my two cents.

You will still be able to receive emails from your old @ntlworld.com addy, but you will only be able to send via your @bt.com or what ever it is from BT.

As a side note are you REALLY sure you want to use BT?

Hi ICU

Actually I am not sure BT is the right solution, but I am sure I no longer want to deal with Virgin.
btw, this is for our home system - my husband and I both run separate businesses from office premises, and we use the home system as a backup to access our systems on a "work from home" basis.

Another vote for Be and also o2 (same company)

Just avoid the o2 Access Package :)

Hi I would suggest that if you are changing your email then do it through a web address ie mine is jfcarter.co.uk so you can set your own up to any broadband provider.

If you would like to know about our broadband and phone line rental package then please pm me.

Best wishes

Avril:)
