Hi Everyone, and hi Jay,
Firstly, no, I haven't been on here for a while - business has gone ballistic, we have grown many fold over the past few months, and top-click has gone through several improvement processes to enable us to offer an even better service - this has kept me incredibly busy - that said, we have just signed on the dotted line to take another two staff on from Jan 2006, so expect to see a few more posts from me!
I am more than happy, as before, to put a bit of time aside to help out, just give send me a PM and we'll get you going in the right direction.
So far as guarantees are concerned, there are several I can make you aware of with PPC, but expectations must be kept realistic.
1. Unlike PR, direct mail, newspaper ads etc PPC WILL deliver potential customers to your site if you set up a campaign properly.
2. You will only pay for actual 'clicks' not the ads being shown
3. If your campaign is set up correctly, you can guarantee your URL will be seen on page one of Google when someone searches for your products.
Perry Marshall is a great font of knowledge, but I think you may struggle to speak to him personally! If I will do as a poor second chioce, as I said, please feel free to PM me!
Anne, really pleased it is all going well, you set up some great foundations there and are reaping the benefits! Rob@matrixx, cheers and Kate yiou are a star!
I'll pop up a Friday fun time posting this week, and promise not to be such a forum slacker from now on!

What Rob has listed are offline advertising metrics which we all know are hard to measure the impact of online activity and the potential ROI hence the initial benefits of PPC advertising.
But with regards to setting up a campaign correctly and a guarantee your url will be seen...this will come at a large cost for generic high volume terms. 'Some' ppc agencies will offer guarantees as they know they can make a tidy profit from deeper buying into more specific terms but this has good and bad points. For instance deeper buying into more specific terms to your business will indeed pre-qualify post-click activity and therefore enhance click to conversion rate on the site in question in question....but what about volume?
More specific keywords have lower volumes and as such profit margins will be slimmer as the number of people arriving at the site will be fewer than that of those generated from more casual browers who are not predetermined to a specific offering but are reviewing the marketplace before making a purchase decision.
As such PPC should be used in harmony with other online advertising mediums to enhace brand awareness and visibilty with the online marketplace.

Hi Lee,
Agree you should use PPC in conjunction with other methods, having worked for 2 of the largest advertising agencies in the world for many years it is unlikely my view will change on that.
The rest of your statement is pretty generic stuff and pretty naive - we are achieveing volumes in excess of 1.7million clicks a quarter at less than 4ppc for a client, of which, he achieves his metrics on over 76% of those clicks.
Additionally we use specific tools to generate 'converting' volume, where the layman wouldn't be able to.
My advice is to think a little more creatively and not be confined thinking, and I hate to say it, inside the box!

Hi Rob,
With yourself having worked for 2 of the largest advertising agencies in the world for many years it is great testament to yourself to see you have been able to carry across some clients with you, you must have done a stirling job.
Also having worked in-house for the largest PPC agency in the UK - not a large multi-encompassing advertising company where search predominantly only caters for a small amount of business turnover as well as two of the big three PPC engines I would not agree with the comments made.
I guess from a bus dev. point of view it - why not make this client you talk of a testimonial on your site? Be great for business for others to see the work you are doing here.
Also, you say 'Additionally we use specific tools to generate 'converting' volume, where the layman wouldn't be able to.' Brilliant - who doesn't do this - unless you are using an off-the-shelf product or licensing something like Bid Buddy then why not utilise this tool as a USP and add it on your site..unless it is a layman solution?
Anyway this is what forums are for to put points across I wish your business well & look forward to watching your client list grow.

Hi - thanks for the reply - and yes it's what a forum is for!
The statements I made, are actually 'fact' not comment, so I am not really looking to see whether you agree with them or not - no offence!
I have a few testimonials on my site from a few clients, but as the list has grown so quickly, I can't have them all on there as the page would be enormous - take a look if you like http://www.top-click.co.uk/html/clients.htm
The tools we use are particularly good, and yes, I use them as a USP when discussing business with new clients.
You seem to have become quite upset with the posts so far, but would like to remind you that this post was made by jay @ ink4-u and not interogate my business and it's practices.
Continue by all means on PM.
Try and chill out a bit - it's nearly X-Mas
