After being repeatedly asked about my wee Samsung NC10 in meetings (where I just use that instead of a paper pad)- I thought it would be worth sharing a recommendation for anyone looking for a small portable machine.

It's not a netbook, in that it runs full Windows XP. It's small enough to look like a netbook, but big enough to use as a proper computer whilst on a train, bus or out of office.

Battery lasts 5 hours, and with 2Gb of RAM it's more than usable as a day to day machine, plugged into a proper keyboard, mouse and monitor.

And only £300!

I swear by the Asus Eee-PC range - I've had one since the original 701 model was released - bought it in Toys R Us!

They are a little cheaper at around £250 also.

Yet to find a decent netbook with built in 3G however! The Dell Mini 9 has (or did have) it as an option, but I'm not a real fan of Dell's low specification kit (their server hardware and business notebooks are fine however...)

We have supplied many of our educational customers with the Samsung NC range and have to say the feedback is amazing compared to the Asus range which tend to have very weak keyboards and a few other components that can fail.

My team and I have NC10 laptops and despite having them now just over a year, I must say, I am over the moon with it.

The keyboard size is just right - I found other Netbooks lacking here - and again, I can only mimic the comments above regarding the battery life. Overall, superb. Highly recommended. :)
