Hi
My current browser is Internet Explorer but having listened to people on here, I'm thinking that Firefox is better? Could I just download firefox and run it? Will it clash with IE or will they just run depending on which browser you select? Would I be able to run both? Help!
Thanks
Liam

You can run as many browsers as you want :).
Firefox is just a lot more up to date as the foundations of IE 6.0 is 5 years old now.
A lot of people resist change but what I will say is every single member of my family now use Firefox. Even my mum and dad use it rather than Internet Explorer.
I wonder if any I.T/web professionals prefer IE? Also there is a lot of good alternative browsers out there such as Opera and Konquerer.

Firefox is far, far better. Tabbed browsing alone is worth downloading it for.
(It will even copy your bookmarks across from IE so there's no messing about.)
Given it's free, there's no reason at all to stick with Microsquirt's Internet Exploder.

The only reasons I stick with IE is that it is still the majority browser (although the gap is closing), and Firefox refuses to scroll up/down on my laptop using anything but the website scroll bar :x Using IE I can use the pad or the shortcuts to scroll...

That's true and you still come across web sites that aren't particularly FF friendly but they've downloaded 100m now. Maybe your laptop problem will be fixed with the new v1.5 just out?

I love Firefox. I have tried Opera as well but didn't like the ads on the free version and I don't want to pay when I can have Firefox for free.
I love tabbed browsing and the ability to drag your tabs to change the order in the latest version is a real bonus - I've wanted to do this for ages!
There are some websites, like my bank's internet banking, which insist you use IE but the rate of spyware and adware invasions has decreased dramatically - to almost 0 - since I changed.

TBH I just use IE. I have Firefox but never really use it. It's more like novelty browser for me.
Its not that I particularly love IE but..... I don't know!
If IE suddenly stopped working then I would use Firefox or others - but clicking that 'E' is part of my daily routine - a habit I can't and won't shake off until necessary.

Here in sunny Estonia on a retail site of mine I get 59% visitors using Firefox, mind you, Estonia also has free WIFI, one of the best internet banking systems in the world and developed skype and hotmail :D :D

Opera is free now btw, they have got rid of the adds in order to compete with Firefox. I used it for a month but I still prefer Firefox.

I have not encountered this problem. When does this happen?

When creating a course manually in our online learning environment, I have no option but to use IE. If I try to paste text, Firefox comes back with a message saying it's not permitted. It provides me with a help message that explains how to add a weird string of characters into some configuration file or other. As a non-technical person, this is just gobbledygook to me.
Of course, this problem will go away in the future because.... well, that's another story.

Thanks for mentioning that - I hadn't heard.
