Hello,

I have dangerous IT skillz. Kinda one of those guys who knows a little about IT and hacks along till I get it right and then have to shout for help anyway!

I have a wireless hub (negear) and 4 PC's on wireless LAN conections. Each PC has its own dedicated printer.

Is it possible to share the printers between the users on this small LAN?

Thanks in advance!

Simple answer is yes. Assuming you are using Windows set each printer to be shareable.
Do make sure your wireless network is secure first.

Check out Network Magic by Cisco systems.

Think there is a "try before you buy" option.

It`s fairly idiot proof ( well it was for me :-)

Or simply go to the Control Panel (in Windows) >> Printers. Right click a printer and go to the Properties. There should be a 'Sharing' tab and you should be able to switch on the sharing attributes. From memory, I don't think you need to do too much else. Try with one printer first.

This of course assumes that each computer can be seen from the others when you click on the Networks folder in My Computer (XP) or Computer (Vista).

simply sharing the printers on the LAN would work. However watch out for those over enthusiastic security programs.

If for some reason your shares aren't visible in all probability its a firewall issue.
