Hi

I'm looking for a few companies who would like a website built free of charge.

My reason for offering this is that I have been working as a web developer for several companies over the last few years and would now like to it alone as a web designer. I need to build a portfolio quickly and I'm willing to take on a few free jobs to achieve this.

You will have to pay for your own domain name and web hosting though. I can provide both at a cost of £33.99 per year.

If you are interested, please contact me at jon@nravenet.com giving a contact name, telephone number and a brief outline of the kind of site you have in mind.

Thanks

Surely you already have a portfolio of the work you have done for these other companies?

Yep but he is trading as his own company and put the sites he has done working for another company in there he could get sued.

I think if you put a star next to the projects that were done while working for someone else and just put a foot note saying so then he will be ok.

The first thing you want to do is create your own website.

I agree wholeheartedly. This is what people will judge you on, get this wrong and they may not even look at what you've done for other people. Get it right and you may not need a big portfolio.
