hello everyone

I doubt many people would be interested but I am looking for some work experience and at my age (14) I do not think many people would be up for taking in a teenager into their business, yet still I ask for some help! I am interested in Graphic Designing or Fashion Designing and am very creative and open minded about many things. Please offer me any advice - in my arrogance - in where, or what, I could work.

Thank you

Hannah

i think there is still a lot of scope for graphic designers despite the market being quite saturated and to be honest we would do more of it if i was any good at it!!

i would be interested to see some of your work and maybe we can look at putting some work your way

dont get me wrong it is not going to make you rich but i think i could certainly help you gain a bit of experience in putting projects together and maybe help you generate some business and clients of your own

let me know what you think

Hi Hannah,
Just to get this right, are you looking for work to do at home to gain some portfolio experience or are you looking for a work placement as part of your school's work experience period?

If you are looking for a school work experience placement then can you please post what COUNTY you are in. DO NOT put your town or address on here, just the county you are in. That way any people who may have some work placement for you can post some interest here.

If you are looking for some portfolio work you can do at home then just reply saying so, so that you get the right sort of enquiries here.

Now pay attention to this...please involve your parents in what you are doing here. get them involved in any correspondence you get from this forum and any others. There are a lot of weirdo's on the Internet and I would hate for one of them to contact you with bad intentions.

Good luck though and I wish you well with your work experience.

Dear Hannah

I think you have shown great initiative in posting your request on this site. To me it would show that you are resourceful and I think that will work well for you in the future. As an employer I like to see people who can think for themselves and I am sure others on this site will congratulate you too.

I hope you find someone that can help.

Good luck for the future

Laurance

wise words indeed - its a pity in this day and age when we have to think like that and go out of our way to protect young people showing initiative!

its nice to see people like ozzy pointing things like this out - my daughter is 9 and i dread when she starts communicating through forums!! (in fact i think i may ban the internet from my house by then!!)

be careful :D

Just saying thank-you for the interest of everyone and i will be soon posting some work on once i can scan some.
Thanks for the push in the right direction (sometimes us 'younguns'' need one)!

p.s - I live in the county Leicestershire if any local businesses would like to give me some ideas, or even offers, of work i could find in Leicestershire.

Hi Hannah,

If you are interest in fashion design, why not ring up your local fabric shop and ask if you can work there for your work experience. You'd get to look at fabric design, learn about fabrics and the feel of the cloth. This will help you a lot, when working on designs. Fabric is the key to good fashion designs

Good luck, you seem a very bright girl, keep it up :D

Jayne

PS...yes i've done fashion design too  Jack of all trades!

Hi Hannah,

Welcome aboard and good on you for having the initiative (sp) to use a forum like this as a tool to further your work experience. Very nice to see. As someone else has already said having an attitude like that will defineately help you in later life.

Unfortunately I can't help to much as it's not what we do but i'm sure something will come up for you :D .

Good luck.

Rachel

I think if you've good skills and expertise in your field then work experience is secondary thing.
