Hi everyone,

I'm in the process of opening up a medium sized discount shop. Everything is going well at the moment but just wanted to see if anyone had any general tips and advice related to retail?

Also i'm struggling to find suppliers. Tried the wholesale magazine but still a bit stuck!

Many Thanks!

it depends on your location and the type of goods your discount store will sell.

i had a distribution company about ten years ago and used to go to warehouse places in Cheetham Hill (Manchester).

they all stocked discount items ideal for discount stores and market stalls

examples included:

large lounge mirrors - cost £4.00 - retail £50.00
designer watches - cost £2.50 - retail £25 - £40.00

also full ranges of cleaning products, pots and pans - they are all aladdins dens of stuff. minimum spend of £75.00 yet you struggle getting that much stuff home!!

dont know where you are based but i would imagine there are places like this all over the uk

hope this helps

Hi,

What sort of things are you looking to sell? Are you not doing the second hand shop now?
