At the moment i'm a UK company only delivering to the uk, mainly because its the only place my drop shipper will deliver to.
With all my own stock coming in the next few weeks i was wondering if its worth me expanding to other countries.
I do have around 20% of my traffic coming from non-UK areas, but i'd love to hear if anyone else does this and what their experience were with it? Will people actually bother to buy from me with higher delivery charges and longer delivery times?

Hi,
We deliver worldwide and our percentage of international sales is good.
I guess it depends what you sell and what the competition is like in other countries but I can't see any reason not to give it a try.

We deliver abroad, mainly to the EU, where the cost of deliveries of lighter parcels is not much different to UK (by RM - I don't know what we're going to do after Thurs), and we don't charge any extra for this, just take a slightly lower profit.
For other parts of the world the cost seems to vary widely and we ask people to email us for delivery charges first - it would get too complicated to price all areas of the world automatically. Outside the EU most orders come from USA, where they don't seem to mind what the delivery charge is - I have sent goods there in the past where the delivery charge is greater than the cost of goods!

if your product is what these international buyers want then they will expect to pay shipping costs on top of selling prices.dhl, fedex, ups have various rates for shipping/time.24h,1-3day,3-7day
The post office do the same but never go with the post office cheapest rate as delivery can take upto a month.
All these have shipping charts with weights and package sizes etc so its easy to find the best deal.

We ship to all European countries, but nowhere else. We used to ship to the US and Australia, but stopped earlier this year. Shipping costs varied too much, even within countries (Alaska and New York). Shipping times were significantly higher. There was often a lack of understanding of pounds and euro, as well as customs charges and who paid them.
You need to remember that it's more than just delivering abroad, it's doing business with customers in other countries. Your phone will ring at all hours of the day and night, at times you'll be unable to reach your customers by phone unless you stay late or work from home into the evening.
You'll be accepting a whole new raft of potential problems. You need to make a business case for adding certain counties to your drop down list, and it should be honestly based on earnings and time spent.

You can try to do that .
Anything is possible ,right?
As a businessman ,our target is earning money in the right way .
And I dont see any wrong to export abroad . But should know all the details

If a foreign customer can get the same product from a local supplier (at a competitive price) they will probably do that, so any time spent adding the functionality to ship abroad would probably be wasted.
If you have a unique product then foreign customers have to go to you and order, so adding international deliveries should increase sales.
We are selling our own brand, and ship about 30% to Europe.

we deliver abroad as we are going to advertise in the attitude magazine and they do over 13,000 copies overseas so we charge a deliveryt fee for uk £2.95 and for worldwide £5.95 but it cost us about £2.00
Please let me know if that was a help

I'm guessing they could get your products overseas anyway but they still come to you? So maybe 8420PR's views arn't completely right (because i was thinking the same tbh) ? Is the conversion rate any different?
My products will be available abroad too quite easily, so that's my only worry.

Hi,
I have had a few customer from europe and other destinations all have been good so far. I have not had any charge backs yet but am worried someone will try it on but whatever business people are in some people do try it on.
I just wish their was a decent system people could use to check people up from aboad.
