My website is currently hosted on a US server and I have been advised that with rosesbydesign.com being a UK business we should have a UK based server as it helps with search engine placement.
Is this true?
If so, I guess I should make the move quick.
So here is your chance.
Who on here is friendly, helpful and provides great UK hosting?

Matrixx is UK and VSHosting is part UK, both are excellent :D

Who do you use Jayne?

VSHosting and use Matrixx now and again for other stuff. You are splitting hairs between the two.
Have a look at their sites, you'll see what I mean. Both give that little bit extra above what you are paying for :D

From looking at prices on the sites I have seen.
What I am currently paying is a fraction of what these charge and the UK hosting sites have pretty low bandwidth.
I currently pay around £7.99 a month for 75gb of bandwidth to a US company.
My business and product is set to get a national TV feature on a very popular daytime show this week with around 2 million viewers.
So potentially we need some generous bandwidth as it could skyrocket this month.
I would like to see what the hosting guys on here can offer me?

Don't make the mistake of going for the cheapest you can find. You'll regret it.
Bandwidth is more expensive in the UK than the US.

Yes, im not a cheapo.
But the price difference seems to be vast.
Does Hosting in the UK really reflect on search engine results?

You will need a UK server for a .com you want listing in UK only searches - or a server that is in the USA but has a UK allocated IP address
It is a fact that UK costs are higher than stateside, although the costs in the UK are coming down somewhat...
You say that you get 75Gb of Bandwidth for £7.99 a month, now although this may be true - if you and everybody else on that server used their 75GB allowance then the hosting company would be screwed! It's basic "overselling" of resources (selling more of something than you actually have and hoping that your clients don't use it all!) - some companies do this and some don't, it's upto you whether you want your business site hosted in that sort of environment????
The fact is - You cannot buy bandwidth for the price you are paying! So there is some serious overselling going on somewhere! Feel free to PM me if you want to discuss this at more detail.

Hi Mark,
If you want great uk hosting, then you will have to pay for it. I do not think £50 -£60 per years is much for what you get.
I mean what is it, it's a couple of computer games or a good night out, it's nothing!
