Has anyone here ever approached big retailers and tried becoming a supplier to them? I ask because I have a product that I think would be a winner in stores such as John Lewis and Harrods (I identify these department stores based on what the target market of the product is).

My issue specifically is that I would only offer the 1 product, and I would initially be doing so as a sole trader. Do you think this would deter them from doing business with me?

What's the product?

Its a pewter candle holder. I sourced the product design from Indonesia years ago. It's the actual design that makes it appealing.

I've had positive feedback from people who bought a batch from my mother; she brought some here about 7 years ago to sell, but she never went any further with it.

Hi Norseman,

We are in talks with several large ecommerce site who are interested in selling our products.

I am very much a first timer when it comes to dealing with the 'big boys' but so far things are going very well.

Just approach them via phone, email or letter and follow up.

If they like your product you got them hooked.

Good luck
