I know there are a couple of members here that deal with teleohone numbers.

I currently have a standard BT line and 0207 number. If I decide to move the office to somewhere outside of the london area I suspect BT wont let me take the numbers with me.

I know there are services out there that will alllow me to have an 020 number redirected to anywhere I like. Two questions:

What does this service cost?

Can I port an existing BT number to this service?

Talk to BT about redirection of their numbers, that's what I did when I moved within the UK. Now i have an 0870 number to cover all eventualities.

Yep, did that. I can get a "this number has changed to" which I don't want - I want to carry on receiving calls on the number.

For that they charge £106 a quarter and charge per incoming call too! I've confirmed that I can my port my number to a different service provider though.

You could port the number to us.

www.voipfone.co.uk

BT charge £20 to do it which we pass on without mark-up. Once it's on our network we charge £1.99 per month and you can be located anywhere on the planet.

If you missed it, there was an article in the Guardian a week or so about just this.

You need broadband but once you've done it you'll find that you can do some amazing stuff with your telephony for a tiny amount of money.
