We put about £30k per year through Lloyds Cardnet and have done so for three years now. We've had two chargeback in all that time (one fought successfully) and all of our business is Internet payments (via Paypoint.net). What commission should we be paying ? We're currently paying 2.45% Credit Cards / 39p Debit Cards and I don't know if that's good or bad for our turnover.

I should point out that as a vendor of stockmarket information, when first looking for a merchant account in 2006, Streamline wouldn't offer us one and Barclays wanted a £10k deposit !!

Have a look at joining the FSB. They offer very good rates and incentives on this.

That is very much in line with something I've worked with in a 'previous life' - that was with Barclays.
However, what's to stop you shopping around for alternative offers? ...though unfortunately there is no 'comparethemarket' for such things!
If you are struggling with getting alternatives, just try and go back to them to 'confirm' what the cancellation terms are as you have a much better offer - even if you don't they may well offer you something cheaper. I've tried that with all sorts of contracts and got some good deals.
