View Full Version : Paypal invoicing vs 'Buy Now' button?

I have a US retailer who wants to buy 20 units of the one line we retail in the US, total amount about $250. Because of the nature of the product, upfront payment is required.

My preferred method of payment is Paypal. However, the customer does not have a Paypal account. So at this point I can not invoice him directly through Paypal.

I have had the idea to create a temporary "Buy Now" button in the Paypal Merchant services for the value of the transaction. Then the customer could make the purchase on a company debit/credit card.

My question is, could it be more expensive to for us to work this way? Are the fees higher to take a "buy now" payment than to use Paypal invoicing?

you dont need a paypal account to pay via that method.

As far as I understand, the recipient of a PayPal invoice doesn't need to have a paypal account - on the create invoice page it says "Bill customers, individuals or groups by email with an invoice, even if they don't have a PayPal account!"

But also, I think the fees are the same whatever method you use.

Rob, I agree with you.

a. You don't need a paypal account to send money to a paypal account
b. The fees are the same however you take the money.
