Hi All, I'm hopeing someone can help me. I am very new to accounting and sage and i'm pretty lost so please be gentle.
I am using Instant Accounts and i need to find out how to enter our takeings from each day so that they will transfer on to the vat report.
We are a cash business with no bank account at the mo as we are running it on behalf of my late mother in law while the estate is sorted so cant get our own bank account etc - hence why i'm new to all this and ready to throw the pc out the window lol.
Any help gratefully received

Don't throw the PC out of the window - just throw the Sage out of the window! There are plenty of far easier accounts/book-keeping packages to use, some of which are free.
If you're just wanting something simple to records cash in and cash out, then download the free cash book software from www.vtsoftware.co.uk (http://www.vtsoftware.co.uk) - it's very easy to use and ideal for shops and other cash businesses etc.
If you're really definite to use Sage, then I think you need to set up a new "bank account" called "cash", then a new "customer" called "cash sales" or similar, then enter each days takings as a "sales invoice" to customer "cash sales", then enter a sales receipt for the same amount, being paid into a new "bank" account called "cash". When entering the sales invoice, make an entry in the VAT column as T1 which you should have set up as standard rate 15%. (And then after reading all that, just forget it and download VT instead).
Sage is "too much" for simple cash based businesses - it's not even that good for more complicated businesses!
