Hello everyone

I'm meant to be sending my new magazine off to the printers today, but I'm having some stressful times trying to get to grips with the final touches.

In particular my printer has specified that I should set the page size to be 3mm bigger on all sides of my A5 cover. I think this is basically to ensure the background colour goes all the way to the edges rather than having any white round the edges at all (when I print on my desktop printer at the moment the blue background still has a thin white border round the edges).

The problem is when I do this via file, page setup and changing the page size on the layout tab I then find that my print preview no longer looks like it'll print out as an A5 type publication on my desktop. It appears to go unto different pages etc. So I'm worried that I can't get rid of the white border without messing things up!

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Also does anyone have any other tips when providing the MS publisher files to my printer? The 4 cover pages are glossy colour and the inside pages are all B&W.

Should I provide the cover pages as separate files from the inside pages?

Many many thanks to anyone who can help out.

Your printer probably can't print full page - the first printer I had that could do it was my Canon iP4000.

When I send anything to the printers they need it in CYMK color, not RGB - makes a big impact on colours if you designed it in RGB. Not too sure about Publisher and it's setting, hopefully someone who uses it will be along shortly :)

The term for what you're doing is a bleed. We don't use Publisher, but I found the following that should help...

http://www.creativepro.com/story/feature/23565.html

To summarise, Publisher doesn't directly support bleeds, so you have to setup the page size manually, in your case adding 6mm to both width & height of the page, then moving your content down/right by 3mm.

As I don't have Publisher installed on my machine, I can't verify this, but shouldn't be too tricky to work around.

Good luck!
