Sage version 10 is loaded onto our own server at a remote office location but used daily here.
The speed is appallingly slow.
Our broadband supplier says that they are not restricting the speed , no surprises there.
Cisco routers have been fitted with no improvement.
Windows small business server 2003 R2 installed.

Anyone been in a similar situation and how was it resolved?

If you are using remote control software to access sage at the server console or on a workstation then the experience should be pretty good.

On the other hand if you are using a vpn connection to run a sage client over a remote network connection then it is extremely likely that not only will you have a poor experience at the remote end, it may well cause problems for local users as well.

Using Sage over a remote network connection (VPN or similar) has never been supported by Sage.

Best advice is to have a spare machine on the same network as the server and to run Sage on that machine and remotely access the machine using microsoft remote desktop, logmein free or similar remote control facility.

Thank you for the reply
I have now checked and we do have remote machines directly connected to the server, they have Sage loaded with data apparently being saved to the server.
Is there anything else to check that may seem obvious?

Thank you for your reply, we do have sage loaded on a separate machine connected to the server so we are now looking again at our broadband service provider.

We have had some tests done which indicated that there is a high 'latency' i.e very slow to transfer packets of information from one site to another.
250ms instead of an expected 60 to 80ms is a figure I have been given.

More research needed I think.

Even if you connection speeds improve, Sage is still not supported to be used in this way so you will never get great performance. If might be that an online solution would suit you better than Sage being run on a remote network.

A Windows terminal-server or Citrix based solution (or something like LogMeIn) is likely to give a much better user experience.
