Hi Steve and welcome to the forums.
i'm sure that you will find it a big help being on here especially if you're looking for advice about website design as there are so many people already on here that are professionals in that sphere.
Any other topics you care to enquire on just post and I'm sure someone will be along to help out. :)

Hi Steve - welcome to the forum.
I've run my own business designing and hosting web sites for just over 6 years, so I guess I have come accross many of the highs and lows that you are looking forward to.
I cant give any advice on pricing - you just have to know your own market, so check out as much of the on-line competition as possible. As for marketing, shout about your website as much as possible, make sure it's easy on the eye and easy to buy from.
Any other advice you need, from VAT registration through to my own profession, just shout.
Best of luck,
Robert
