Bit of a different business to the usual but here it goes:

Been toying with the idea of launching a business designed to capture marketing data. I know how to capture the data (legally of course) but I only have very vague ideas about the rest of my plans.

Does anyone have experience / knowledge of selling data etc to businesses? It would be in the form of detailed or more generic consumer opt-in data (not email address), data which can be highly targetted & bespoke if neccessary (i.e a sort of 'focus group') created if needed.

Simply I need to know how to monetise this side of it. I do know it can be done, but unfortunately not how!

Any advice appreciated.

Becoming a list broker?

or have I gone off track?

spot on...yep, I'd be generating and (hopefully) selling marketing lists. Would also have the flexiblity to produce bespoke 'surveys' for b2c research.

Have you any knowledge of this field - I little input would be great.

Hi there, i was just reading your post and our company actually sell these lists for resale. We have the total B2B filewhich we own the legal rights to and we have a B2C file which has over a million records. We can split the file and filter it to your requirements. It could save you lots of time instead of waiting for you to capture customer details you can have them already. Prices are very reasonable for the b2b file in full your looking at around 5k and the b2c file i have over 1m records and for half of them your looking at around 7k. Prices are all negotiable depending on quantities. I hope this is of some use to you.

Thanks
