Hi,

Found the forums last night... This is great!

I'm Dan. I set up Surveylab in 2003 to create and host online surveys. We handle the technical side of fielding surveys on the internet: questionnaire design & programming, databases, hosting, reporting. We can also provide consultancy and manage outsourcing of printed/post surveys.

In the early days I also undertook some web application development (you know - creating a web-based tool to do something or other) and created a couple of web sites, but I found my feet soon after. It's a huge experience starting up, controlling where you go and how you get there. There are stressful days, but so far the good days have outweighed those.

I can't believe I didn't find this site before. So many people!

Dan

Hi Dan

Welcome to the forum

Let me know if you ever need a very experienced focus group researcher to compliment your services - not me but a client of ours. I'd be glad to put the two of you in touch.

All the best.

Thanks for all your greetings.

I promise I'll not send you any surveys.
Unless you're a customer of a client of ours (with permission)!

Hi Dan,

Welcome! Is what you do similar to survey monkey?

Hi Jane
In a way, yes - theirs is a self-service/DIY survey where as we perform the actual survey creation, quite often assisting our client in formulating the content of the questionnaire too.

Pretty much all of our clients give us the questions (and answer options) they want to ask in a Microsoft Word document, and we create the survey (customise look and feel, often to match very closely to their website - whatever they require), and host it for them.

We offer features such as skip logic etc, can take care of emailing and of course online reports. And Surveylab provides additional services - printed/post surveys, panels, customised reporting.

Survey monkey is ok (yeah we check out our competitors!) and very cheap. Their servers are hosted in the USA (an issue for some organisations) - reportedly can be very slow after 2PM (especially if you're trying to create a survey and view results) - but I've also seen good surveys deployed.

A survey we're fielding now is [plug - win a Sony LCD TV] www.surveylab.co.uk/alliance-leicester/ [end plug]
