Hi

I have not created an invoice for a good while but i recently started my own business offering design services to medium and large organisations...my business is only small.

Please could anyone let me know if its proper form to include sort and account number on an invoice (ie as in an electricity bill) or should i just include an address for a cheque to be sent to.

Thanks!

We have bank details on our invoices and also information about paying by cheque

Many large businesses pay via BACS as it is lower cost so put your bank details on and also for those who will pay by cheque the account name that the cheque will be made out to.

You should also clearly state your terms of payment eg. payment due within 7 days of invoice. This should also be agreed with the client before any work is started. :D

You don't have to include your bank details. But in order to get paid as quickly as possible we always list the different methods to pay at the bottom of the invoice, including bank details for a bank transfer.

As Alan said in another thread, some large companies prefer to pay by BACS. You'll also find many smaller businesses do too.
