View Full Version : Money-making Opportunities - Do They Exist?

I've been searching around the Internet for about a year now in the hope that I might, just might, come across a decent, genuine, business or money-making opportunity. However, to tell you the truth, after surfing what must be hundreds of sites promising this, that and the next thing, I have found nearly all of them either a waste of time, a scam, some bordering on fraud and many totally useless.
Don't point me towards eBay - I've looked at nearly all those ones offered on their "businesses for sale" menus - again, most of them totally worthless. It seems to me that on eBay you have to be pretty thick and/or gullible to hand over your hard-earned cash for bucket lods of tripe!!
So bearing in mind the foregoing, what have been your experiences? I mean, I don't mind spending or investing money, as long as the proposal is genuine, scam-free and actually does what it says on the tin.
Over to you...

I think if there were any genuine Get Rich Quick schemes out there, there's be a lot more rich people.
I suspect that the truth is you have to do your own thing - find your own opportunities and exploit them. You don't have to do the work yourself (a mistake most of us here have made), but you need to create a system that others can manage to generate a financial return for you.
A perfect example of exploiting an opportunity read this post from two months ago: http://www.ukbusinessforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=4851
and then this one from this week:

I've formed the impression that you're seeking 'easy money.' perhaps that's why you haven't found it in 12 months because most of us put in the 'hard yards' before it becomes easy - and even then it's not so easy!!
There are plenty of opportunities available and plenty within yourself. Juast hone in on 'what' you want to do; THAT becomes your starting point.
Cheers, Nigel

I have built several businesses from scratch, and sold some of them. Of the ones I have sold on about 25% have continued to be successful because the people that bought them worked hard at them, the other 75% thought they could invest a few thousand pounds and then sit back and do nothing whilst the money rolls in, it does not happen like that.
I currently have 2 websites for sale, both of which have good potential but require marketing and maintenance to produce a good monthly income. (neither have income at the moment as I have not started to market them yet)
If you want more info pm me, but be warned, you will have to work !

Thanks, folks, to make things clearer. I am a company manager, work a bog standard week, but have been looking to work at something part-time and see how it goes.
I know there isn't a get-rich-quick scheme out there and I take your points about having to work at it, etc. It's just siphoning off the wheat from the chaff...

'work 3 hours a week and earn £25k a minute' you have seen them stuck to lamp-posts all over the place.
no such thing as a quick buck - you need drive, determination and a good idea of your own or something you enjoy doing to fuel your fire.
all the best

'work 3 hours a week and earn £25k a minute'
LOL !
I keep seeing ones that pay you for filling in surveys or questionaires,
has anyone had any experience with these? are they bordering on fraud too?

I looked around for a while before jump in head first. Dont believe what you read on the screen. Look at what the business sells and then consider would I want that product or service. Is there a market for that.
If you get the right one and put some decent hard work into it you will suceed. Look for something that your able to do online and offline!

It's a strange question.
Theres money to be made everywhere.
Look around you - most tangible things that are not natural represent someones business. From staples to tea cups, paper, envelopes, pc's theres money absolutely everywhere.
You just have to decide where you want to focus and then go for it.
:)

Agreed. It takes focus and hard work. Don't expect money to just fall into your lap.
