Recently I have considered setting up a CC payment processor.
I'm unsure as of current how many cards I will be processing, and so have looked at NoChex for a system that has no monthly/setup fees.

I understand many will have experience with Nochex, and wondered if anyone had been affected by dormant fees?

Also how do nochex pay, BAC's ?

Thanks in advance.

Nochex fees are comparable if not slightly better than Paypal. You can withdraw money by BACS.

However their support isn't too quick so if you have a problem (admittedly fairly rare) you will have a couple of days turnaround on getting it sorted.

They also hold a "retained balance" where based on your average and maximum transaction and how risky their "risk team" judges your site to be, they will hold back an amount of money. ie. you always have to keep some money in your account. This isn't usually an immense hardship, as at least money you receive over this amount is yours to withdraw straight away.

You can also theme their payment pages which is nice.

Overall my experiences with them have been more positive than negative.

Hope this helps :)

I use Nochex as an alterative to Paypal, for anyone who has problems paying.
It is ok, but interface is a bit basic. Also, you can't view the customer's postal address on your account, and they can't supply a delivery address.

You capture the billing *and* delivery information on your site, and then pass them to nochex for payment. They pay. Nochex posts back to your site saying you've paid. And voila you have both billing and delivery information.

Thanks for the replies.

I think off site processing is the best cost effective option for me a the moment.
sdchown do you have any more information on the balance thats retained, also do you get this back when you close the account?

Thanks.

Yes - you get it back when the account is closed. And they promise to reduce it with good trading history (but I have yet to ask them to do so for the relevant project).

What kind of information?

Thanks for the reply.

The rates they retain, is it based on a percentage of your total transactions for example, or is it a fixed amount. Do you have any example figures?

I guess I am trying to work out if it will be viable with the small number of cards i will be processing.

Many Thanks. :)

Not if you just use your Nochex as a buy now button, which is also an option if you don't have shopping cart software.
