I think it depends what it is you're trying to sell and who you're trying to sell to. £500 isn't much to spend on advertising but can go a long way if used thoughtfully. We've had some success promoting clever little site on facebook which was much cheaper than if we'd used the money to put up a billboard or place an ad in the local paper.
If you're planning on just using a free blog service, why not do it anyway? Regardless of whether you spend money on further advertising? Every little helps as they say...

You can either use the traditional media vehicle like billboards,radio/newspaper advertising etc or the online media advertising to promote and market your products. Which ever way can be useful if being use properly, based on the kind of product or services that you are trying to sell. Choosing which media vehicle to be use for advertising should also depends on the budget. If you want to avail the free blog sites, then you should give it a try, and see if it helps.Goodluck...:)

Again it depends on the kind of prdouct u selling and whom you selling it to. Advertising on tv, billboards etc; still has its charm and has greater response rate. they will allow you to reach those whom you neva thought would be part of your target market and this way you can create a new market for your product.

£500 could be used quite efficiently to increase your search engine positions for your targetted terms or release a number of press releases about your service.
The only downside with facebook ads etc is that it can be a money-vacuum. A good Pr piece can be picked up and redistributed by multiple other niche blogs for added promotion.

A mixture of both. Maybe some tv ads....
you can get a 30min. show setup pretty cheap.
Then use video marketing online.
Depending on what you're selling, mabe you can use direct marketing

news paper maybe locally.
billboards maybe 1 for a day
radio not a chance for significant exposure.
£500+vat. speak to steve gibson and talk about ppc.
its not a lot of money for marketing.
Tv is way out of your league for that small amount

I think now-a-days Internet marketing is the best way to succeed in the online business.E-Commerce marketing along with the advertising systems makes the business to reach at optimum level.E-commerce makes the marketing easy, faster, efficient and maximum accurate.

Hi there,
We tend to encourage clients to do more than one form of marketing at any one time. You will always see a better response rate if you integrate two tactics.
The details of how to do this depends on what you're trying to market. For a small budget PPC is always good, as is PR. If you want to talk any ideas through, I'm always happy to have a chat.
Regards,

For popular products, which take up the main stream market, it is Media,
But for unpopular, e-commerce will be the first choice.
Amazon has given the best answer.

Without having an insight into the actual product or service that you have avaliable i'm finding it hard to believe that people are offering their opinions as to what would be a better option or not.
The answer is, it's enitrely dependant on the above. Without knowing this, nobody here is qualified to tell you what will work better or not as obviously what works for one product is completley different to the next.
For example if you own a candle selling website or business, you're not exactly going to be trying to advertise that on TV now are you?
Can you provide anymore information so we can get a better picture of what you are selling and what you are ultimately trying to achieve then the members here will be in a more qualified postition to provide you with some ideas as to which direction to focus your marketing strategies on.
Thanks Nate

Doesn't matter what the product is. £500 will not get the exposure.

How on earth can you say that? What are you basing this on? You have know idea of the goals, objectives and targets of the thread starter. If you were looking to spend £500 to get a return of £2000 using a PPC campaign I could do that with my eyes closed. This could be the 'exposure' that's required to meet this persons needs and reach the targets they want or strive for.
If you are a Takeaway marketing in a small town and you have £500 to spend you are going to be able to get excellent results if you market correctly and get the 'exposure' that you want.
Again, without a better understanding of thread starters postion people are not really in a postion to make a good judgement call themselves.

I would say it depends who your product is selling to. If its slippers for pensioners for example online stuff wont work. If you have £500 to spend I would go for adverts in the paper, magazines etc for that age group. If your product is selling to young people by all means Facebook, myspace etc & affilliations with other online businesses that can help boost sales. A banner swap between websites is a great place to start. :) I have promoted successful products with no more than £30 in my pocket, aslong as you know the right angles you can work wonders with time & an internet connection :)
