Hi there,
Just wondered if any of you clever technical types could give me a hand/some advice?
I keep getting directed to some search thing called Internet Optimizer and it is driving me mad! (Not only because of the American spelling.)
Anyway, i've tried to find out why by searching on google but it hasn't helped.
Any advice on how to get rid of it?

Purchase a copy of adaware from lavasoft - it should get rid of the spyware etc. which is causing this problem for you.

Dear Morethanwords!
Internet Optimizer is an error page hijacker. This is commonly installed by other malware packages like Moneytree. This system is known to download and install additional packages which you don't want. If you have this then you likely have a number of other things you'll need to remove.
If you continue to have challenges then there is a high chance the nasty is respawning on post (when you dboot your PC)
1) Disable system restore if you have it.
2) Download Microsoft Anitspyware if you have win xp you will have to confirm that your copy of XP is legit.
3) If you do not have win XP or Antispyware is not compatible with your OS, get Spybot Search and destroy.
4) Install the above and ensure that you have the lastest updates.
5) Reboot your PC in safe mode. (Press F8 when you start it)
6) if xp select yes to continue working in safemode.
7) Run your chosen variety of anitspyware.
8) As an added check click on start>run then type %TEMP% then press enter. Go to folder options and select view all. Then edit>select all and then delete the files you see.
9) re boot your PC and see if the problem persists.
10) If clear restart your system restore and hide system folders in your folder options.
If the problem persists then do the following;
This is manual removal do not attempt if you can not programme the video recorder.

There should be something called "Internet Optimizer" in Add/Remove programs.

Make sure you click start --> Run and type in msconfig. Then select the startup tab. Any references to the processes below.
Unregister DLLs:
Tip: this is only a list of known files/locations. You will want to do a search by the name of the file to see if they're on your system.
A while back I wrote a guide to Register/remove DLL or AX files which you will need if you don't know how to unregister these files.
Each file is in several locations so you'll need to search for them and unregister + delete them in every location you find.
msbbhook.dll
ncmyb.dll
nem216.dll
nem218.dll
saiehook.dll
End Processes (may or may not exist):
180ax.exe
actalert.exe
msbb.exe
optimize.exe
saie.exe
