I'm getting this error quite often when trying to send emails through outlook 2007, any ideas?
" 550 Administrative prohibition - relaying not allowed"
Can't seem to find any answers so far.
Thanks in advance!

The only time I have seen that with Exchange is where someone has tried to send an email from a differnt domain to the one Exchange is configured for
ie. Exchange Configured as mycompany.co.uk
and I try sending the email with a from address of yourcompany.co.uk
I wonder if the exchange server is not recognising the true identity of your Outlook client.
Its going to be something along those lines I am sure.

The message is basically saying that the server you have configured for outbound mail does not allow you to relay.
This could be a number of things.
You might have the wrong settings configured?
You might need to authenticate (login) in order to relay?
If you don't always get the message it could be a problem with the server the other end unless there is something different your end when you get the message? such as trying to send as a different email address from normal?

Thanks Lee, realised the outgoing emails weren't set to use the right smtp credentials

Glad it's sorted, sounded like something like that.
