all depends what your offering.you can be on page one on google if your selling yack jiss or offering predictions from goat endtrails :D and traffic could be good but still doesnt mean good sales. internet is only a tool and a lot of people seem to forget that it takes more than a line on a page to make a business

You cant really talk in terms of actual numbers because this will depend on your product and the competetiveness etc. You can talk in terms of percentages though and there is an article I found here that goes into a bit of detail based on some AOL findings.

Great article simon!

I still look for exact numbers from webshops that have experience in before and after SEO campaign :-)

It's not the traffic that matters, it's how many convert.

The other issue is page 1 of google. If you are selling something unique then google may not be your friend (no one will search because they don't know about the product). But if you are selling something mainstream then you will be competing with all the other e-commerce stores who have been doing it a lot longer than you.

In any case, aim for 6-12 months to a decent ranking and another 12 months to turn a profit.

There are too many variables to quote exact numbers that will have any meaning to you. Just because Joe Soap does XYZ does not mean if you do XYZ you will have the same or similar result. There are far too many factors that come into the equation to make those numbers meaningful.

It is not as simple as that either.

You need a decent amount of traffic in to be able to make meaningful changes to the conversion process. So traffic is very important and really does matter. Once you have the traffic though you need to make sure it is converting.

I agree. The point I was trying to make was that getting thousands of visitors isn't much use if no one buys anything. It's quite possible to make a decent living from a low number of visitors if the product/service meets the their needs. Got one client who is making £500/day from less than 50 PPC visitors.

So while I agree that you need visitors, it much more important to make sure they spend their money with you.

are you infact asking if its worth running an seo campaign to improve your site hits.if so then i expect everyone has had varying levels of success and dare i say failure.
I personally havent used this service so cant comment.what i do know is that a couple of years ago i had excellent page placement and then went off to do something else for a while.when i came back i found that i had been demoted to page 100,000 plus..i think i could be a serious candidate for an seo campaign.its all a bit strange to me as in the begging i would get around 1000 hits a week from page 1 or 2 or 3,now even at 100,000+ i still get 500+ hits a month of new visitors so where the hell they find me is a mystery.can anyone shed any light???

Not really a lot of use since google reports 0 searches for those keywords.

Hi, im opening a webshop and want to know how much traffic webshops can expect to get when on first page in google, anyone who want to tell about their experience before and after a SEO campaign???

Think of it like this: To buy off your site the consumer..

1. must want to actually buy your product
2. must get to your site in the first place
3. must then decide to buy from you (not the next site)
4. must then gain enough confidence in you to buy

For you this translates to:

1. you need to have the right products on sale at the right time
2. you need good SEO and inbound links attracting RELEVANT customers. This can include Adwords campaigns. Conversion starts before the person gets to the store
3. you need to have competitive pricing and P&P and if you are in a very competitive marketing, shout about any edge you have
4. your site needs to be professional, and not have any barriers (physical or psycological) to a sale

hi, as fisicx said the keyword for your site you used as an example is not listed in google keywords search, so my point was that nobody search for the word, but again you also said that you didnt paid anything for that word, so thats good, would be waste of money.

Sorry for the checkout problem, we are changing the domain name URL and can only accept Paypal the next 14 days, after that we launch our new website with a super pro look and also with some features for our customers to use, incl. competions, and we will fill up with other new exciting products we have ordered recently :-)
