We have just got a new HP2320FXI HP Laserjet (to replace a HP2820).

The print server (HP Proliant running Windows server 2003 standard edition) but when i put the CD in it starts to load the software but half way through it states product not supported and terminates.

I can set the IP of the printer and ping so can see it but just can not load the software so as to set up the scan etc.

Anyone else had this problem or seen it? Any advice?

Although this method will work for the majority of printers, if you want users to be able to scan directly from their PCs on this scanner, you'll probably be best just leaving it on the network and letting users connect directly rather than going through the print server - or set it up so prints go through the print server (and use drivers for the model which is the same without the scanner on top) and scans directly to device as the scanner software probably won't work through the server.

Thanks but the problem is that this printer is NOT fully compatible with Windows Server 2003. Even though it states on the HP website and all their ditributors it is but not the full functionality i.e. not the scan to options. HP have no timelines or even if they will build the Drivers.

We are returning the printer and we are not the only ones (we purchased through Misco).

All our IT is HP but after a day of trying to install and then ringing HP support it appears that it is not compatable (not full functionality) even though it states it is.

If running Windows Server i would not purchase this printer

The printer is supported under server 2003, if you download the driver from the HP site and then set up the printer as a standard tcp/ip connection in add printer you should be able to install the printer fine. Here is the link for windows server 2003 drivers.

For the scanner part have you not tryed to setup FTP site and then set the scanner to ftp the scans to the ftp server. You will have to create a username and password on the server for the scanner to use to authenticate to the FTP server.
