Hi there

If you get 5 minutes then please take a look at our website www.Stationery-Direct.co.uk and let me know what you think of the layout, services etc etc.

Thanks for any advice

The look is okay (bit too dark for my tastes, but fine), your terminology is friendly and unlikely to put anyone off.

The underlying construction is poor at best though, it's blocky and would be poor for SEO.

Thanks Richard

Could you ellaborate on "it's blocky and would be poor for SEO" and maybe explain how to rectify this.

Thanks again

You've used tables for layout, and precious little css. I couldn't find any heading tags to give weighting to any part of the document (infact I couldn't see any semantic code at all). There are other problems, but I haven't time to go into all of them.

Hi

From a lay man's view, I think the site looks great. I quite like the darker colours - makes the site different to most. Simple design, easy to navigate and great to have all the prices shown.

But as I don't even understand most of Richard's comments, I might not be the right one to ask!!!

(ps. Not going to ask for comments on my site....complete overhaul is now being planned thanks to this forum!)

Just from my consumer poaint of view, the site is clear, well set out and all images and text is clear and not pixelated - which is a pet hate of mine!

Especially on a design printing website.

Good work

Thanks guys ;-)

By the way, good luck with your new business Mark. Have you contacted local flower shops for your affiliate scheme yet?

I am pretty sure that local florist shops (offline)would not want to divert their own customers and potential profits to us, to receive just a commission on sales.

After all it is their bread and butter as you say.

I do see your connection.

We will target florist shop directories, online gift suppliers, wedding suppliers etc...

Looks a little 'templatey' and I have to say I personally do not like 'dark sites' unless the theme is dependent on it.

Nothing really grabs me though, maybe different for others opinions, but it is seriously lacking in visual images. You can see how visual a site like http://www.rcs.plc.uk/start.asp works (I understand this is a large and expensive company - but note the visuals)

Changes I would make are:

- Change the link to the Email. It's quite outdated to have an email link that opens up Outlook or mail client and will usually cause you a huge amount of SPAM. Try an online form instead

- Brighten the site with colour and images

- If you are hoping to gain some exposure on search engines you will, like Richard, states need some SEO work. SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) is simply a way to help you climb search engine positions by helping search engines index and catagorise your site correctly.

For example your title tag is 'Stationery-Direct', this is one of your most critical items for SEO and unless anyone is searching for the phrase 'Stationery-Direct' it is not going to help you.

Good points is that it is well worded and quite easy to find prices for potential work - some other similar websites make this (surprisingly) quite difficult.

Hope this helps,
Dean
