I have just started to use this software http://www.mlb-enterprise.co.uk/Employee_Page.html and i think for the money its the best software CRM on the market.
They have a web site http://www.vtiger.com/ and a live demo, take a look. oh the price is
FREE that's a FREE 3,000 day plus trial period term i call "Absolutely Free" or you could try the other ones for 30day trials of a monthly installment or outright payment its a choice thing.

For me i'd always recommend Salesforce, it's not free but it's the market leader and a solid platform for most businesses.

Yep vtiger is very capable but featurewise is overkill for many small businesses. I think it suffers from a typical IT solution problem where the thinking is;
more features = better
Which of course isnt the case at all. A couple of businesses I know who did use it found the hosted version performance wise a little poor. That said if you are running it on your LAN its ok.

I do like Netsuite, again fairly expensive. It is good though

The reason it has many features is because they are requested by the actual users in vtigar forum, now that's good not bad, features you don't want you don't use. But it does mean in the future you have them available if needed, now that will save time, the need for new software, reduce transfer or development down time and associated cost. It is also customizable by contacting support team for a fee but this is bespoke and your not paying for the basic software only your own enhancements, need I say more. (if you want to pay for something pay for support)
If its on a shared server like the hosting site for vtigar on-line it will fluctuate in speed, if you want to fix this then have your own dedicated server from your service provider (may already have) or run in on your Intranet. All data is importable / exportable to both csv and excel formate.
My speed is fine currently as the need for more uses 10 plus maybe i should go dedicated (hostgator offer a great service, tech guys are very good)

Point to the 'Open Source' option in the menu bar at the top of the Sugar CRM Home Page. A menu pops down, click on 'Downloads'.
It offers different versions and packages of the open source version.
There is a Download Wizard that helps you to determine which bundkle is best for you.

Yep down that but its only a free trial version, all of their crm is open source, that dont mean its with out cost the vtigar CRM is free and built on the same code as surgerCRM. Cant see the point of sugeCRM the IU are very much the same. Don't pay for one or pay for one.

SugarCRM community edition is free and is easily customised to suit the user. There are also many additional modules that can be installed for free.
Whilst not perfect, I believe it is an excellent piece of software which I use myself on a daily basis and have also installed for a number of my clients, customising as required.
If you would like more advice on the package then please feel free to pm me.

As I haven't made enough posts yet I'm not allowed to post links but go to the SugarCRM website, select Open Source>Downloads
If you're unsure about setting up Apache and MySQL then I suggest you download and install the Windows stack installer version.

I would highly recommend Salesforce. Is not free, but after using it for 2 years, the ease of configuration and its capabilities make it a first class CRM for me
