Just wondered if someone could point me in the right direction.

I'm trying to find out how I would be able to tell if a website has been built using frames or not.

Can anyone advise the likely code I would see or any other pointers....

the word FRAMESET in the source code on the index page is normal for a framed site. send me the URL, I will have a look for you

One quick method is to right click over a part of the page and then click 'View Source'. If the HTML shown only relates to that part of the page (e.g. a navigation menu, or a mast with a logo) then the page is using frames. If you instead see a massive load of HTML (i.e. the entire page) then the webpage probably doesn't use frames.

Go to the page, then view the google cache of that page. view the source of the google cache, view the text only version.

Just to say thanks to all the above posters who have helped out.

And a big thanks to these placeofdesign.com who gave me a ring to assist.

We were looking at a framed redirect (amongst other things!)
