Evening all

My website has had a bit on an overhaul and I wanting to get people’s feedback about it.

I run www.mkprinting.co.uk and as you can guess it is a printing company. The difference with MK Printing is that it set up primarily for solo traders and small companies and we focus on customer service.

I developed this site because I am a former nightclub and music promoter. Ordering posters and flyers was always a difficult issue and also an expensive one. I now sell these, and many other, items and we try to make it as easy as possible for people to buy and design them.

We currently don’t design posters or flyers but we are in talks with several free lance designers that we are looking to work with. Things like business cards, letter heads and comp slips we design for free. We also offer a design online service for business cards and soon for many more items including calendars, desk pads, comp slips, news letters etc etc.

We have already had quite a few customers, most of whom were so impressed that they are now regular clients. You can see some of their testimonials on the site at http://www.mkprinting.co.uk/testimonials.cfm

Please take a look at the site and let me know what you think about the design, easy of use and most importantly the concept of helping small companies getting great products with the customer service to match.

Much appreciated

Matt, MK Printing

All in all, not a bad site!

Personally I'd go for moving the product links (ie: "Flyers", "Posters", Calendars" etc, that run along the left hand side) up to the top of that list, swapping position with the set of links beginning with "Your Account". As most of the visitors you'll get will be new to your site, this - I think - would help people find their way easier. Maybe you could colour the "account" based links differently.

Another idea might be do remove all of the product links and replace them with a drop-down list, which will save on scrolling.

Another quick thing is: if I go to "Flyers" then select from the tabular list of options, the page refreshes. What might be nice is to refresh and move the cursor back to the original point, using an anchor. This means that, when I've selected, say, "Mini cards (85mm x 55mm)" I don't have to scroll all the way back down to the "Continue" button to go to the next stage.

Hope that's of some use!

Hi,

I think it needs a bit of colour to brighten it up and there was a funny floating thing on about live chat (not sure if should be on there, maybe one of those pop up things)

Other than that, it's fine, easy to use...I am a none techy, but thats what I thought :D

Good luck with your new site

Its ok, nice and simple, which is good because it makes easy navigation. One thing i didnt like though was your live chat, i did try it out to see waht it was like and i must say it isnt to the best. Some little improvement there would be great. Do you pay for that chat service?

It's a nice plain simple site, I like this sort of thing, flash / graphics intensive sites are a waste of bandwidth and user's time. Should also do well in the search engines.

Having said that, I'd definitely add some product preview images. The web is a visual medium, you must establish good placement for your product so the customer is clear you are selling what he/she is looking for.

Spotted some improvements from the SEO / web standards angle, but overall it's looking pretty good.

You share a common target market (small / medium businesses) with a number of users in the group, including us. Suggest you join the link exchange and pull in links from other small business focused sites.

I like the site, but the font at the top with your business name and address is 'fuzzy' replace it with a different clean font.

After all you are a printing company and if the text on your site does not look neat and crisp - would you buy from a site that looks like that?

The rest of the site looks good.

Your live help feature is a good option. I would consider moving it to a more prominent position near the top.

Thanks for all the feedback and we are making the changes at the moment.

More colour and pictures are being added to the site. We are also redesigning the top banner to be clearer. We have just invested a lot of money into the site and changes will appear this week.

What do people think about these plans we have. We are going to offer the products with 3 options, design online, upload your own or professional design. This will be available on most products, if you upload your own artwork you get £5 discount, design online is free and professional design service will be very reasonable i.e. £10 for a business card or letter head and about £30 for a flyer/poster.

Thanks once again for all your feedback and to those who have already placed orders with us. I will be putting on new business packages onto the site later today i.e. 1000 business cards and 1000 letter heads for £199 inc design and delivery. I will inform when these are on.

I had a quick look, first thought was where are the prices each page has a select but no indication of price?

Hi Matt,

I loke the simple design - things can be over-complicated sometimes! Personally I think that I would prefer price lists instead of having to choose an option so that I can already see my options, but that's probably just me. Good prices!

All the best,

It will be nice to see more colour and images on there but you're already working on that. Also I didn't like having to click to see prices on each item, when I got using it it was fine but I'd get frustrated if I didn't find what I wanted quickly and initially as soon as I didn't see prices I would have gone. I'm a fickle shopper with not much time and I like to do things FAST.

Very easy to navigate around though that was great. I thought though what people say you want to make a big point of, don't make customers click i.e work to see what a great company people think you are.

Matt i would say it needs more colour.

Also maybe use a PO Box address to make the company look bigger as i would guess the address could be residential.

Other than that the content is good.

i liked the site and think you have a very good idea. The company we use we have to order in 1000s which we dont always want and have to pay a £50 design fee every time. So very good, also good to see your going with the customer service side of it also. I may even have a go on there mysef, very tempted with those prices.
