a friend of mines e-mail has stopped working

it gets to his server then will not forward to his laptop as usually happened

he gets an error message ( i can PM this if it helps)

he cannot send or receive e-mails at the mo?

can anyone offer some advice?

please let me know here if you can and i will PM over the info)

Who provides his email service? Why hasn't he/she got in contact with them in the first instance?

Ask your friend to check their spam/junk folder to see the stuff is ending up in there.

Best suggestion I can find based on the error message.

Outlook returns code 0x800CCC60 when it can't understand what the outgoing mail server is saying to it. This could be for a number of reasons.

1.The outgoing mail server may not want to talk to you until you have successfully received incoming mail (providers do this so spammers don't use their outgoing servers to send bulk email (``relaying'')).

Since Outlook usually tries to send mail before checking it, it breaks these systems. Try moving everything in the Outbox to Drafts, hit "send/receive", wait for it to complete, then put the outbound messages back in and try "send/receive" again.

[this is the solution 95% of the time]
2. Make sure the computer that's having problems can access the internet. Load a random web site so that you're sure you're not seeing a cached page.
