I have an old Toshiba 4080XCDT laptop with a BIOS password I have forgotten. I have been unable to open it up to take the CMOS battery out and I have tried all the generic passwords and the software on floppy disk methods without success. Does anyone know either where the battery is/how to open the laptop (some components seem to be fixed to the top and bottom at the same time preventing it opening) or can suggest another method of accessing it ?

I know of one Mater password for Toshiba Laptops and it is "press left shiftkey" Dont know if this one will work for you but its worth a shot.

See what this does. It might do it. But it depends on if you can access the computer after it's been powered up.

Doesn't work like that James.
The BIOS is stored on a chip on the motherboard, not on the hard drive, and is the first thing the computer runs when switched on.
