Can anyone offer any advice on registering a domain name? I was looking to register, but there are hundreds of companies and prices etc. I have checked and all my domains appear to be available, but I don't know which options to go for and what sort of prices I should be paying

At the risk of a blatent plug..

www.register.matrixxhosting.com

The normal .coms and .co.uk's are just under £5 per year. You can change dns and all contact details etc... and you'll have me on the phone if you need help ;)

There are others like www.1and1.co.uk and www.ukreg.com

Hope this helps,

Rob

For a domain name registration or If you want other services eg web hosting then try talking to one of our hosting members - TWD Tony, Matrixx or VShosting for the package.

Hi,

There's a few domain registration companies mentioned in this article on one of our sites:
http://www.advice4businesses.co.uk/domain_names.shtml

Personally, I always use 123-reg and have never had any problems with them. A .co.uk costs just over £6 for two years.

Watch out for some of the cheaper ones - e.g. www.uk2.net. Yes, their prices are very low, but you get almost nothing in the way of "extras" and very little help/support.

Dave.

godaddy.com probably the worlds largest, they are only around $8.99 per domain...

i use
streamlinenet.co.uk
compila.com
1and1.co.uk
123reg.co.uk
and lycos.co.uk

and i can say i like what 123reg offer me, yes it is the same as the others but it is easier to manage. But lycos offer a very good service and is by far the cheapest at £1.99 per year, but you have to buy 2 years. Good Look Jay

eNom and goDaddy both are reputed and reliable registrar to go with.
