my new website is being built in php.
I am only used to using htm and html and in the past have edited and made updates using frontpage which I found quite easy considering I quite an amature at webdesign etc.
My question is does anyone know a program that I can use to edit and add simple areas to my already designed website which is php?

you can use anything so long as the file extensions are saved as .php rather than .htm or .html

Mark - if you just want to edit a few words then open the file in Notepad, make the amendments and save the changes (make a backup just in case)
Of get your web designer to make the changes - my gut feeling is that you are going to be busy with your new business and for the sake of paying your designer for a few minutes work you may well save an hour or 2 of heartache.
Hope this helps,
Rob

Hi Mark
I quite like PSPad - http://www.pspad.com/ - it's got syntax highlighters for lost of programming languages and can auto indent etc to keep your code tidy. Oh and it's free :)

After a few hours I feel quite comfy with a text editor or Dreamweaver, taking it easy.

There is no right or wrong answer but I use Crimson Editor simply becuase it has snytax highlighting and the ability to manage projects.
Dreamweaver is fine but its £500 price tag is not, I can do the job just as well in a text editor which means I can pass on my savings to my customers.
PHP is a great language though, its easy enough to understand if you're not a software engineer and its poweful enough to do lots of complicated things in.
I have written a 16,000 word dissertation on .NET but I still prefer PHP for web development.
So to sum up if I had a legal version of Dreamweaver for free I would probably use it but its not worth it for me at the moment.
Notepad has to be better than Frontpage :).
