I've often wondered how one goes about getting a celebrity to endorse your website or product.

I'd love to get someone like Jim Bowen to represent SillyJokes and I've also got a cracking new product that should sell well but would sky rocket if I could get it on a popstar or footballer to wear it.

How does one go about this?

contact their management/pr agent- dependant on their "status" they will either demand a fee for an advert or if they like the product they take one for free (such as cars/watches/fashion etc) and can be mutually beneficial as they get it "seen" or "heard" in the press and they get a nice freebie.

we managed to get one through to jonthon ross and he loved it so much he mentioned it on his primetime bbc chatshow and gave it a great endorsement that we can use in future pr.. :D

I'd go for sending a particular favourite item or one that has been popular in to several radio shows to start with. I don't know how you'd monitor whether they mention it, but Chris Moyles often talks about the random items people send in.

Also as danf said, send items to your chosen celebrity via their agent.
