I have a website that I set up about 8 years ago, info-x.co.uk

It's basically an online community of techies. It's very popular. Last month it recieved 1.25million hits (over 100,000 sessions).

I just don't have the time to maintain it anymore, in fact I've given it no attention for over 6 months so the traffic levels could be much higher.

One of the members on the site who is very active in looking after the forums has offered to buy it from me - I am waiting for him to give me a figure.

My question is: how much could I get for this site? Do you know of anywhere online I can advertise it for sale?

If anyone is interested in looking at the stats, please go to http://www.keyone.co.uk/webstats-login.asp and log in as username infox, password infox.

Have you checked out SiteBazaar (http://www.sitebazaar.net)? You can buy and sell ready-made and existing websites online

You may also want to try Sitepoint.com

They have a sell your site forum which may be of interest to you.

I know very popular forums have sold for tens of thousands of pounds so if he offers only a couple of thousand then you should think twice and do a bit more research about your options (I know it's a very rough figure range but thats just to give a basic idea).

Wow, this thread is almost a year old.

I decided to hang on to the site for the time being.

SiteBazaar turned out to be a load of rubbish from a sellers perspective.

ohh, I didn't realise this thread had been bumped after almost a year (not used to it happening on forums like this so I never check :D ).

Hi Duane,

Couple of points for you to consider...

1 - Don't quote website hits, they are meaningless and do not give a true indication of traffic. Unique users/page views are much more accurate

2 - How much profit per month is the site making? Generally you could expect 10-18 times the monthly profit

3 - Be very, VERY sure you want to sell the site ;) I know this may seem obvious but I sold webmasteredge.com a few years ago to an American firm. It was getting about 250K page view per month and making reasonable money. I was chatting to the guy who bough it not so long ago and the traffic has now increased five fold. God only knows what the earnings are now ;)

Bugger nuts, didn't check the date ;)

haha :D

It honestly baffles me how people manage to bump these threads. They must have to look through DOZENS of pages of threads to find these. Don't they realise how old it is? :S

The problem is that forums like these are so well indexed by Google et al that people will follow the link in and then post not realising the date...

I did ;)
