As the title suggests, I am doing some research on what is the best way to sell/introduce your product/service to another business (i.e. mail shots, telesales, direct sales...........free trials, discounted rates.......etc etc)
I have my own thoughts on this, but would be interested in everyone's views.

Hi
Lots depends on the business. However I think the most effective way is to get on the pone and introduce yourself. I tend to use a combination of phonecalls and email, especially when people are hard to get hold of.

Do you find emails work better than Mail shots? I guess thay are a lot quicker and cost effective.

Yep. I find calling in conjunction with emails and leaving the odd voicemail with the correct person works wonders. Also never underestimate leaving a message with the receptionist and following up a couple of days later

To get new clients for my business, which safety tests, services & repairs commercial catering equipment, I just go into any pub, restaurant, club or hotel that I see and ask to see the gaffer.
I tell him what we do and when and how to contact us and then leave him with a business card and a 50% off chit for his first call out.
More often than not I get the business. Obviously I'm in a bit of a niche market which helps massively.
I don't think a letter or email would net me as much business.

Mailshots, emails, business forums, twitter, use your website as a sales tool, SEO, AdWords, tele-marketing...
Just a few and these are the tools - you need to target it at your market and having a great offer helps.

Hi Guys
When choosing your Marketing media you need to start by considering your target market..
PPC or SEO are useless if your target market arent searching online for solutions to their problems...
The same is true for all media - if your target market doenst read magazines then magazine advertsing isnt a great idea - you also need to consider your message...
It may be better delivered over the telephone than in print for example...
More often that not you need a multi media / multi step sequence...
Eg. Classified ad --> Website --> Emal --> direct mail --> phone call
Obviously you need to collect some details on the website in order to make the last 3 steps happen...
I dont think you can say x is the best method - there is much more to it than that!
Hope this helps

May be phone call should be before e-mail?
