Hi Guys

I am in the process of writing a business plan which is going to be used to get finance from the bank. I need to gather some industry figures that tell me how many units have been sold within the UK within the last year and trends in the market.

Does anyone know where I would gather this information or get hold of industry reports? The industry I am researching is power tools and garden products e.g lawnmowers

Thanks in advance

Look up Keynote reports you can read the exec summary which is often enough - you may have to dig to find the list but I have found the info useful - full reports are ners £1000

National Statistics Office - report based on industries annual returns, can't remember what it's called. But phone them up, they're helpful and its free (and pretty comprehensive).

Hi,

Another good way to have a better business plan is doing a quantitative market research.
If you demonstrate that some people are definitely interested by your product/service, it will help you to get some funds from the Bank or other organisation.

Quantitative market research is very important, it will help determine the success of your business plan. It's also a way of knowing if your proposed business is feasible or not :)

There is an optimist for you. A business loanfrom a BANK. We are bloody lending them money now.

Seriously OP. I hope you have got a damned good track record because no business plan alone however well crafted is going to hack it. Be careful then and consider all the options. It is easier to get a loan for a car for example thn for a start-up.

You may visit researchandmarkets.com/reports/347949. Here you will find a report analyzing the worldwide markets for Garden Products. The report provides separate comprehensive analytics for the US, Canada, Japan, Europe, Asia Pacific, Latin America, and Rest of World. Hope, it will be helpful.

Id be tempted to base your figures on actual pre-sales you have generated rather than saying "Industry is worth £Xmillion and I'm going to get 0.05% of that". It's a lot closer to what you'll actually do.

Good luck with the bank!
